FAQ’s
Q 1: Can I use my hair shampoo or my body wash on my beard?
A: No, you should not. Shampoos and soaps formulated for scalp hair or body skin does not provide the necessary conditioning and moisturizing that beard hair requires. These products can strip the natural oils from the facial skin, leading to dryness, irritation, flakiness and beard-dandruff. Our beard shampoo contain ingredients that help soften and moisturize the coarse, curly and thick beard hair while being gentle on the skin.
Q 2: How often should I wash my beard?
A: It's generally recommended to wash your beard 2-3 times a week. Over-washing can strip the natural oils, while under-washing can lead to dirt and oil buildup.
Q 3: Is a beard conditioner necessary?
A: Yes, a beard conditioner is absolutely necessary. Many unwanted issues associated with your beard such as itchiness, brittleness and beard dandruff are caused by a lack of moisture. Our conditioner will nourish your skin and lock in moisture on facial hair.
Q 4: I have beard-dandruff and it is embarrassing. What is it and can I do about it?
A: Beard dandruff, also known as "beardruff," is a condition where flakes of dead skin appear in the beard (and on your clothes). It is similar to scalp dandruff but occurs on the facial skin beneath the beard. It is caused by dryness of your beard and the skin beneath the facial hair.
What to do about it:
1. Use our Moisturizing Beard Wash 2-3 times a week to cleanse the beard and the skin underneath without stripping away natural oils.
2. Follow the beard wash with our Beard Conditioner to soften the beard hair and hydrate the skin underneath. It has ingredients such as argan oil, vitamin E to moisturize and soothe the skin.
3. Next use our Beard Oil daily. This is crucial for keeping the skin and beard hair moisturized.
4. Daily use of our Beard Balm provides additional moisture and hold.
5. Use the Boar Bristle Exfoliating Beard Brush to remove dead skin cells and prevent the buildup that leads to dandruff and help distribute natural oils evenly through the beard.
6. After brushing follow up with The Black Beard Comb to get that sculptured and well groomed look.
Q 5: How do I trim my beard properly?
A: To trim your beard, brush your beard into the desired shape you want. Use scissors to trim any hairs that fall out of that shape. The scissors available at The Black Beard Company offer accurate trimming.
Q 6: Will drinking water help my beard?
A: Yes!! Stay hydrated- Drink plenty of water to keep your skin and hair hydrated from the inside out. The goal is to drink ½ of your body wright in ounces daily.
Q7: What is the benefits of the Boars Hair Beard Brush?
A: Our brush is made of 100% Boars Hair Bristles. Boar's hair beard brushes are a valuable tool and a must for maintaining a healthy, well-groomed beard. They offer numerous benefits, including effective detangling, gentle exfoliation, stimulation of blood flow, and even distribution of natural oils and beard products.
